I continued to participate in German Club this semester. Last semester, I worked as the treasurer of the club. This was an interesting learning experience, as I had to teach myself how to create and submit a budget. Honestly, it was quite an anxiety-inducing thing, as I did not know what would happen if the budget was not done correctly. But, everything ended up working out.
However, I did not follow the correct method for the 2020 budget. (In my defense, I was not told how to do anything…) Even though I was flustered, I submitted the missing form and created an auxiliary budget. For the next few weeks, I waited to find out about the budget, getting more and more nervous as the first event of the year drew closer. Luckily a couple of weeks before the first event, the budget was accepted. The German Club ended up receiving the most funding it had ever received!
For this semester, I was chosen as the new vice president of German Club. This meant taking up a few more responsibilities, but I was/am more than willing to undertake them. (The first thing I did was teach the new treasurer how to submit the budget so they don’t experience the same panic that I did.) German Club is one of my favorite things of my OU experience, and I hope to help make this the case for the other students who become involved.
A couple of days ago, I was picked to be the next president of German Club. This is extremely exciting, and I cannot wait to help German Club to the best of my abilities throughout my final semester at OU.
